Patrick Fratellone, MD, RH (AHG), FIM, FACC
Patrick Fratellone, MD RH(AHG) FIM has been practicing clinical medicine for 25 years.
Prior to Joining Connecicut Integrative Medicinal Center, he has had many positions. His New York City practice, Fratellone Medical Associates, has been open since 2004. Prior to this, Dr. Fratellone was Chief of Medicine and Director of Cardiology at the Atkins Center for Complementary Medicine under the direction of the late Robert C. Atkins, M.D. Previously, he held positions as Medical Director of the Fifth Avenue Comprehensive Medical Group and Regional Director of Cardiology programs for the Ultrasound Diagnostic Schools. As a result of his development of programs and teaching in these positions, he is recognized as a forerunner in the field of echocardiography.
Dr. Fratellone completed his B.S. and B.A. in Biology and Humanities, respectively, at the State University of Stony Brook (New York) in 1982. Dr. Fratellone finished his medical residency at Lenox Hill Hospital, in New York City, where he also pursued and completed his Fellowship in Cardiovascular Disease in 1994. During his three-year fellowship, he trained at the Nicholas Institute Sports Medicine and Athletic Trauma at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City and the Division of Congenital Heart Diseases at the University of California at Los Angeles. In 2005, he completed his Fellowship of Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona under the direction of Andrew Weil, M.D. He then completed his training as a registered herbalist. He is a professional member of the American Herbal Guild (AHG). He is an expert in supporting and treating cancer, heart disease, autoimmune disease, and Lyme Disease.
Dr. Fratellone has been an adjunct professor at the University of Bridgeport College of Naturopathic Medicine since 2014. He is a board member of the American Apitherapy Society and recently will serve as their Vice President..
In addition to radio and television, he has authored books, and published in medical journals. He wrote the forward to the book Jennifer’s Way: My Life with Celiac Disease by Jennifer Esposito. He is a weekly regular guest on her podcast Chewonthis.life. He recently appeared in the television series, Remedies: The Sacred Science discussing the use of botanical medicine in the treatment of cancer and Lyme.
He spends his free time needlepointing a canvas, fixing up his home in Black Rock, CT playing with his dogs, Spencer and Chaplin, and tending to his multiple bee hives.
Ryan Attar, ND, MS
Captain Ryan Attar is a veteran of the US Army. After serving overseas Dr. Attar developed Type 1 diabetes and was medically discharged from the Army after nearly 6 years of service. After the military, Dr. Attar decided to embark on a new career to aide those with diabetes and other health issues. He graduated in 2017 from the University of Bridgeport with a Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine and a Masters in Human Nutrition.
Dr. Attar has been LIVING and THRIVING with diabetes for 12 years and will help you achieve non-diabetic blood glucose, A1c and weight loss goals. Dr. Attar is extremely passionate about nutrition & diabetes. He is very active in the TypeOneGrit online diabetes community, a group that was studied in 2018 in the journal Pediatrics. This study showed a low-carb approach resulted in exceptional glycemic control for these individuals. He has written several articles on the diabetes website Diabetes Daily. Dr. Attar adheres to a low carbohydrate approach, and uses Dr. Richard Bernstein’s principles.
When not practicing medicine Dr. Attar is an avid traveler, having been to 75 countries. Dr. Attar also enjoys fitness, weightlifting and is currently a blue belt in jiujitsu.
Emma Cooke, ND, MS
Dr. Cooke is committed to integrative care; she believes that that ideal health is achieved by combining naturopathic and allopathic modalities.
With a strong focus on stress, headaches and sleep, Dr. Cooke strives to help each of her patients live their best lives. She also treats acute illnesses, women’s health and, as a new mom, has a great interest in pediatrics.
Dr. Cooke graduated cum laude from the University of Bridgeport with a Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine and a Master’s in Nutrition. She was awarded Excellence in Botanical Medicine. She is also a certified Reiki practitioner.
When she isn’t focused on healing, Dr. Cooke loves to travel, read, cook, garden and spend time with her husband and one year old daughter.
Jennifer Goto, ND, MSAc, BEng, DTCM Candidate 2019
Dr. Goto believes it is important to find the modality that is best suited to each unique case. For this reason, her education encompasses Naturopathic Medicine, Traditional Chinese Medicine and acupuncture, as well as innovative specialty modalities, including nutrigenomics and microbiome analysis. These allow for advanced personalization of medicine by analyzing an individual’s genetics and intestinal microbiome in order to identify, treat, and prevent disease.
Dr. Goto graduated summa cum laudeas a member of Phi Kappa Phi honors society from the University of Bridgeport with a Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine, a Master’s in Acupuncture, and residency under Dr. Peter D’Adamo. She is currently completing a Doctorate in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Prior to medical school, she attended the University of Manchester, England, where she received a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Dr. Goto has lived and studied in many countries, including Ayurveda in India, botanical medicine in Costa Rica, and acupuncture in China. She has a passion for global health and providing healthcare in underserved regions.
Hannibal Miles, ND, MS, CNS
Dr. Miles completed his undergraduate studies at Washington & Jefferson College, achieving a B.A in Business Administration with minors in Chemistry and Spanish as well as completing the pre-health track. Though originally on the path towards a traditional medical education, he found his passion in natural, holistic, and preventative forms of medical care.
He went on to attend the University of Bridgeport College of Naturopathic Medicine. There, he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Doctorate degree in Naturopathic Medicine and Masters in Human Nutrition. His thesis entitled “Breakfast may not be the most important meal of the day: The Benefits of Intermittent Fasting on Health, Exercise, and Muscle Growth” was accepted in the university’s Faculty Research Day in 2018. He is a strong proponent of intermittent fasting as well as the popular Fasting Mimicking Diet.
As a Certified Nutrition Specialist, Dr. Miles seeks to guide individuals in appropriate specific diet plans tailored to their needs, fasting regimens, and other dietary changes that will provide a lasting impact in one’s health.
Dr. Miles uses an integrative approach in treating many ailments such as weight loss, GI, hypothyroid, Hashimoto’s, high cholesterol, hypertension, allergies, lyme, insomnia, anxiety, fatigue, and other diseases including autoimmunity. Dr. Miles employs an integrative and holistic approach involving detox, diet/nutrition, and many different modalities in order to elevate health and wellbeing.
In addition to working at Connecticut Integrative Medical Center, Dr. Miles also works concurrently with Dr. Fratellone at Fratellone Medical Associates in NY. Dr. Miles is IV certified. He enjoys acting in his free time and is a member of the SAGAFTRA professional actors union.
Katie Zinn, ND, MSAc
Dr. Zinn is a licensed naturopathic physician that graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Doctoral Degree in Naturopathic Medicine and a Master Degree in Acupuncture from the University of Bridgeport School of Naturopathic Medicine and Acupuncture Institute. She was inducted into Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society during her second year of medical school. Throughout her schooling, she had the opportunity to precept with Dr. Fratellone and to learn and refine her skills in the art of IV therapeutics under his guidance. After medical school, Dr. Zinn was chosen for the residency position at the University of Bridgeport School of Naturopathic Medicine, which she is currently working upon its completion. Prior to attending the University of Bridgeport, she attended the Pennsylvania State University where she received her bachelor’s degree in Biology.
Dr. Zinn was guided to the work of a naturopathic doctor and acupuncturist during her undergraduate studies. She was introduced to this medicine by a teacher that frequented a practitioner and was aware of her health concerns. When she noticed positive changes in her health after seeking treatment from the practitioner, she chose to pursue this medicine as her career. She was also intrigued by the connection of mind and body and was drawn to becoming a Reiki Master.
Dr. Zinn is a member of the Connecticut Naturopathic Association. While Dr. Zinn treats a variety of conditions including high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, weight management, fatigue, thyroid dysfunction, sleep disorders, arthritis, osteoporosis, immune disorders, acne, anemia, and allergies, she has a special interest in digestive issues such as constipation, irritable bowel syndrome, small intestinal bacterial overgrowth, chronic pain, and anxiety. She uses a variety of modalities for patient treatment that is tailored to each patient’s individual needs. Different combinations of nutritional and lifestyle counseling, nutritional supplementation, acupuncture, physical manipulation, homeopathy, hydrotherapy, nutrigenomics and laboratory work may be employed throughout visits for optimal treatment. Dr. Zinn believes if the body is supplied with what it needs and obstacles to health are removed, the body has an innate wisdom to heal itself.
When Dr. Zinn isn’t in the office, she enjoys cozying up on the couch with a book and home-cooked meal, catching up with friends while taking in the views of Seaside Park, or climbing through the trees at Adventure Park.
Associates & Staff
Ralph Santora, DC, RPT, MA
Dr. Santora has been in practice for 47 years. He graduated from Columbia University’s college of Physicians and Surgeons with a BS in Physical Therapy in 1972. He was affiliated with many New York Hospitals: Mt. Sinai, Neurological Institute, Institute for the Crippled and Disabled, US Public Health Services.
He worked at Roosevelt Hospital where he treated the teams of the New York Mets and New York Knicks. He further pursued his career getting from Columbia University a Masters Degree in Exercise Physiology in 1977.
Dr. Santora was the Chief Physical Therapist at Palisades General Hospital in which he designed/developed the department in a new hospital.
Dr. Santora then furthered his love of education and passion for the human body. He graduated from Logan College of Chiropractic in St. Louis, Missouri in 1982. He then opened his own practice in Bridgeport, CT.
He specializes in Cold Laser Therapy, diagnosing and treating neuromusculoskeletal dysfunction, sports injuries, therapeutic exercises and various physical therapy modalities. His goal is to reduce pain and improve function.
Dr. Santora is a medial consultant at B.A.D. (Better Athletic Development) in Shelton, CT. He works with Kevin Gendron who is the owner, possessing a degree in Exercise physiology and is a strength and conditioning expert.
Dr. Santora lives in Bethlehem, CT on a small farm. He enjoys the outdoors, horseback riding, mountain biking, cross country skiing, snow shoeing, kayaking and weight training.
He has a motto, “Limp in, leap out” and firmly believes that “Exercise is medicine”.
Julie Hannum, Office Coordinator
Julie Hannum received her BS in Athletic Training from Boston University in 2004. After working in the health professions as a Certified Athletic Trainer she shifted gears to teach Health Education. Julie also has administrative experience working for 3 years for a non-profit organization. Having seen the way in which Naturopathic and Integrative Medicine truly heal people, she is passionate about the care that this office can provide its patients. When not in the office, Julie enjoys spending time her three daughters.
